Hi all -

Please see the below announcement regarding an exciting opportunity for the City to participate in a Google pilot.

Mayor Curtatone recently announced that the City of Somerville will seek to be included as one of the selected trial areas for an ultra-high speed broadband network by Google. The network will be offered at a competitive price to a small number of trial locations across the country. With Google's plan, a fiber-optic broadband network would provide an attractive choice for the residents of Somerville, and should ultimately increase competition and lower prices. The City will be submitting a Request for Information (RFI) to Google, which Google is using to identify interested communities. Click here for the City's news detail: http://www.somervillema.gov/newsDetail.cfm?instance_id=1561, or here for more information from Google: http://www.google.com/appserve/fiberrfi/.

Thanks!
