Joe's Jazz and Blues Festival, 6/19-6/27, Locations across Somerville:
The brain child of Mayor Joe Curtatone, who played trumpet in the
Somerville High School Jazz Band, The Somerville Jazz and Blues Festival
is kicking off on Saturday, June19th with a free outdoor concert at
Powder House Park from 12-8pm. The Somerville High School Jazz Ensemble
will get the crowd going with sounds ranging from American Jazz to Big
Band. They will be followed by Professor Harp, Brendan Hogan & Band,
Evan Marien Trio, The Ben Powell Quartet, Eric Hofbauer and the Infrared
Band, Peter Parcek 3, and the Camelia Latin Jazz Sextet. Throughout the
rest of the week, area venues will showcase some incredible talent. For
a full schedule of the festival, please see:
http://www.somervilleartscouncil.org/10_joesBluesfest.htm
CORRECTION: Last week's ResiStat e-mail incorrectly indicated that the
SomerGreen Festival would be taking place after the Spring-Clean up.
Instead of SomerGreen, after the clean up participants are invited to
attend a barbecue at Trum Field on Broadway. Additionally, Solar Day
will be taking place at the Growing Center at 22 Vinal Avenue (next door
to Nunziato field), which the public is also welcome to attend. Solar
Day is sponsored by the Boston Area Solar Energy Association.
Thanks!
