Please find below an update on the Hodgkins Curtin park renovation process. The project manager expects construction to start mid-September.

Dear Hodgkins-Curtin Park Community, 

I wanted to provide you with an update on the status of the Hodgkins-Curtin Park renovation. 

As many of you know, the City has been working with the landscape architecture and engineering company, Weston Sampson, to develop renovation plans for Hodgkins Park - plans were completed and the project was put out to bid in mid-June.  Due to the competitive construction market this year, we received several strong bids from a wide range of qualified companies.  However, a number of the proposals included technical discrepancies, which led to a delay in the selection of the lowest qualified bidder - pushing back the timeline for completion of the project. 

I am now happy to report that we have worked through the issues and recently selected Strada Construction Inc. as the lowest qualified bidder.  Our next steps include finalizing our contract with Strada, ordering major pieces of park equipment, and coordinating the demolition process.  Our goal is to begin construction in mid-September.

Unfortunately, due to the delay, it is unlikely that the park will be completed this Fall - we originally projected a November completion date for the playground portion of the park.  However, we remain optimistic that a spring ribbon cutting now seems possible.  That being said, we will still push to get as much of the playground completed as soon as possible.

When I have a starting date for the actual construction I will send out another email notice and also will post notices in the park.  As I said above, I expect that will be in mid-September.
