Please see below for more information and also view information online at http://www.somervillema.gov/alert.cfm?alert_id=264 **************************** Mayor Curtatone and Executive Director of the Haitian Coalition Franklin Dalembert announced that they will host a community meeting and subsequent community vigil and healing ceremony in remembrance of the tragic earthquake that struck Haiti on Tuesday evening. An informational community meeting will be held tonight (Friday, January 15th) beginning at 6p.m. at the Healey Elementary School, 5 Meacham Street, to answer community concerns and questions relating to relief efforts. On Monday, January 18th, at 7:00 p.m., the City will hold a community vigil and healing ceremony at Somerville High School's Centennial Auditorium, 81 Highland Avenue. Both events are open to all members of the public. According to the Mayor's Office, the federal government, FEMA, and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), have requested that no donations of supplies, food, or clothing be made at this time. Monetary donations may be made in the interim, and a Revolving Account has been set up through the City to collect donations until we receive further instructions from state and federal officials. Somerville's Trauma Response Network, school counselors, and public safety officials have been stationed at Somerville schools this week to provide support to students affected. Additional support has also been made available to families throughout the City.
