Hello all,
Construction in Magoun Square
You may have noticed some delays in Magoun Square. It is business as
usual for local restaurants and shops, but there are some street
closures

Public Hearing on Star Market Site
The Planning Board held a public hearing recently on the proposal to
bring Ocean State Job Lot to the former Star Market site in Winter Hill.
The Board heard testimony on the proposal and will continue
deliberations during their next meeting on Thursday, September 2nd.
Written comments will be accepted until noon on Friday, August 27th and
may be submitted to George Proakis at gproakis at somervillema.gov.
SomerMovie Fest 2010,
Thursday Nights at Dusk, Locations Across The City: Mayor Joe Curtatone
presents the SomerMovie Fest. Throughout July and August, please join us
for the following movies: August 26: Better off Dead, Powder House Park
(Note: this was originally scheduled for Seven Hills Park, but has been

Somerville Dog Festival
Well-mannered dogs on leashes invited, but they must be current on
rabies vaccination. Please join us: Sunday September 19th, 10am-3pm,
Conway Park, Somerville Ave. All proceeds to benefit the Northeast
Animal Shelter. Featuring demos in agility, frisbee, flyball, search and
rescue, freestyle dance and urban mushing. Silent Auction, Fashion Show,
Best Dog Trick Contest!
8th Annual Somerville Homeless Coalition Golf Tournament
This year's tournament will be held at the Wayland Country Club in
Wayland, Mass, September 10th. Golfers can check-in the day of the
event at 12:30 p.m., followed by a barbeque-style lunch. Shotgun start
will be at 1:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the non-profit
organization and the programs and services it provides to the homeless
and near-homeless in Somerville and the Greater Boston area. More info

Community Updates
The City recently received a $400,000 EPA grant to help developers clean
up contaminated sites.
