Please take a look at http://www.somervillema.gov/jobs.cfm to see the openings. Several of these positions have a very big impact on the City's future. I'd like to highlight a few: SomerStat Director: SomerStat has done some interesting work in the past five years, and the next Director, we hope, will break new ground in implementing municipal data-driven decision making. See: http://www.somervillema.gov/mysom_jobs_detail.cfm?instanceId=270 for more information. There is also a Budget Analyst position, who'll work closely with SomerStat. See: http://www.somervillema.gov/mysom_jobs_detail.cfm?instanceId=288 for more information Part-Time Volunteer Coordinator: A frequent request over the years has been to add a staff person who could channel the willingness of residents to contribute to the city. The new part-time Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with ResiStat. See http://www.somervillema.gov/mysom_jobs_detail.cfm?instanceId=285 for more information. Part-Time Web Developer: We hope to move as many City transactions online as possible and to use the internet as a forum for community building and joint problem-solving. However, we need a technical person to help! See http://www.somervillema.gov/mysom_jobs_detail.cfm?instanceId=288 for more information. Please spread the word far and wide about these open positions. I have worked in the Mayor's Office for five years now, while also living in Union Square. It's a great joy and interesting challenge to problem-solve in your own city. Come join us in this work.
