Please see the below announcement about an opportunity for Healey School
students and parents.

 

HEALEY SCHOOL LUNCHTIME CONCERT SERIES, FRI. 4/30 & FRI. 5/21: The
Healey School is pleased to announce that it has received funding from
the Somerville Arts Council (SAC) for two concerts that are part of the
Healey School Lunchtime Concert Series - where as students in grades K-8
eat their lunch, professional musicians take the stage and showcase
their talent. Thanks to SAC's support, the Second Line Social Aid &
Pleasure Society Brass Band will perform Friday April 30, 2010 and
singer-songwriter Audrey Ryan will entertain students Friday May 21,
2010. Parents are welcome to attend.

The Healey School Lunchtime Concert Series is designed to expose kids to
the incredibly diverse world of music and to help lay the foundation for
a life-long appreciation of music. Many of the students at the school
would not attend concerts given by professional musicians were it not
for the Healey School Lunchtime Concert Series. Furthermore, as costs
for school buses become increasingly prohibitive, this program is an
ideal, cost-effective way of giving every kid in the school an
opportunity to attend a concert.
